Imperfection is where the light shines through (Jacqueline Myers-Cho)

Reclaimed cotton, linen, organza, tulle, lace, sequins. Techniques: Hand stitched, machine stitched boro boro stitching and embroidery

14 " x 17"

I find perfection to be a mind game, filled with outward expectations. When creating from the heart, the world of perfection doesn’t exist. In this piece I chose to create a face, cut it all apart and then sew it back together. I also cut holes and then mended them with sequins, fabric and stitching, while still allowing the shine to peek through. This technique gives a nod to the ancient Japanese art form Kintsugi and Boro Boro stitching, filling a crack with gold and repairing a garment for continuous use.

She was never broken She did not fall apart Even though she had been cut and mended She knew She was more than perfect.
